“Oh. Mah. Gawd. I had this place bookmarked for about a year, forgot all about it, and finally remembered today. I cried, friends. Cried. Post-burrito, I wiped away my tears with a salsa-stained napkin, getting capsaicin in my eyes and making it all worse. WORTH IT.
Why so weepy? Two reasons, very simple. One, mourning the loss of a year spent not eating there every day. Two, because I'd asked for my football-sized burrito, already advertised to be Volcano-Chipotle-Lava something or other, to be made extra hot n' spicy, and indeed it was.
I got supremely burrito'd, right there on a shaky deck at 84th and Woodstock, friends. The menu is big, all the usual Mexican fare (tacos, burritos, tortas, quesadillas, sopes, and more) available veg/vegan or with a variety of meats. I knew if I started to peruse the menu too closely, I would never decide, so I just asked the lady working what she recommended, and let her pick for me. Homemade tempeh was involved. Oh, LORDY, cue the waterworks again!”

“I love love love this place!! It's my first place to run in whenever I visit portland. When I have a bite of their vegan torta with soyrizo and no cheese/sour cream(I just don't like fake cheese...), I'm the happiest girl in the world!! After they open other location, depending on the cook, sometimes it's a little disappointing, but still good. Their fresh squeezed orange juice and Jamaica are great!
Nutri Taco please expand your business to L.A, I can't never find better torta than yours!!”

“So far, the most delicious and freshest mexican food I've had in Oregon! I love the location on SE Woodstock just east of 82nd, the truck is permanently parked in front of a house, with a wooden deck attached. Patio seating is strangely lovely for the nondescript nature of the area.
Plenty of vegan and veggie choices, real choices of various tofu styles and flavors, plus veggie mixtures, whole avocados and cheesy/cheeseless deliciousness. Their salsa is hands down one of the best pico de gallo styles in the city!
Honestly, I can't wait to try all their other yummy combo burritos and plates.
They also have fresh squeezed to order OJ, and tamales by the dozen if you order ahead. Oh yeah, and they have TOFU TACOS! A personal fav....”

“i am such a fan! their food makes me so happy, and when i leave i'm already excited at the prospect of coming back soon and trying something else on their menu. the ladies that work here are super sweet too. and tonight when i was waiting for my food i saw a very cute german shepherd poking his head out of the front window of the house. but enough about that-onto the food.
tonight i had gringos tacos, with soyrizo. wonderful. i know lettuce and tomatoes aren't orthodox, but i like 'em that way sometimes. the soyrizo had a little kick to it, and tasted great with their creamy avocado sauce. and they were nice enough to give me 4 sauces, with 3 tacos. these are good sized tacos though, 2 filled me up, with just enough room in my tummy to sample my husband's pasilla burrito. which was also delicious, huge, and there's about 1/3 of it left in the refrigerator that i think will make a yummy breakfast with some salsa and fried eggs tomorrow. (for him anyways, i don't have anything left because he ate my other taco) another one my husband and i like is the chipotle tempeh burrito. that chipotle aioli is darn good! everything else on the burrito is full of flavor too. there's rice, onions, sauteed green and red peppers-it all makes a very tasty combination.
their fresh-squeezed orange juice is fantastic too. it's a lovely treat. and i liked their jalapeno cheddar 'poppers' too. the ranch that came with them, not so much. i think they taste better with hot sauce. the only thing i've tried so far that i didn't really dig is the chicken tacos. the chicken didn't taste so good. there was an odd aftertaste, and it was kinda tough and dry. but who cares, when everything else i've had has been so good? anyways, i'll be back soon to try something else on their lovely menu. the tortas sound kind of tempting, and i've been meaning to try their horchata and jamaica. i foresee many a summer meal in the coming months being enjoyed at el nutri taco.”

“Best carnitas in town, crispy and delicious. Tortillas were tender and good. The lengua was also about the best I've had in town, you could serve it to a newbie and they'd never guess. My friend had a pastor burrito and said it was excellent as well. Bit of a haul, but I'll be back to try the pastor and maybe a huarache!
I was wondering if they had nutria, but I guess the name is about the vegan menu or something. Mmm, nutria taco...”

“Highly recommend the Volcano Burrito. It is vegan, and it is the best burrito I've had here in Portland. He also makes his own corn-tortilla chips. Very warm and fresh. This place rocks.”

“Great homemade chips and salsa, along with veggie and vegan offerings. Good small burritos for the ninos as well.”
“Super tasty green tacos. Reasonably priced. Amazingly kind family. Cute house. Vegan and vegetarian friendly.”
“this place rules, and its in a front yard. inexpensive yet extensive vegan menu, super friendly staff, authentic mexican fare.”
“BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN PORTLAND. They have a lot of options for meat eaters and vegans alike. Pretty cheap too.”

“Holy Nachos, Portland! Their vegan nachos are a masterpiece. Forget everything you know about art. This is it. Crunchy chips, loads of avocado, flavorful beans, crispy tofu, salsa... it's a huge order, so make sure you're either starving or have a pretty friend to share with. Note: this adorable little taco truck is located a few blocks from Every Day Wine. If it's too cold or hot to demolish your nachos outside, head down here and have a glass of wine. You can bring in outside food. Note: They make their own soyrizo!Note: They're open Monday-Saturday. Closed Sundays.Note: Have I mentioned you should try the nachos? You should.”
“Finally a Portland food truck worth writing about.
This is authentic Mexican with an understanding that vegetarians enjoy a sloppy, goodness-filled taco as much as our meat-eating pals.
If you're used to tasteless bento wraps, sauceless burritos go elsewhere.
This is the real deal. Sure to be a hit for those that love real Mission style Mexi-fare.”

“Some of the best Mexican food in Portland. It's worth going out to 82nd for it (and that says a lot!). The folks who run it are really nice and their tacos are full of win.”

“It was my first time to a taco stand so naturally I was a bit tenative. But it turns out there was no reason to worry at all! They treated me just right and I didn't even notice that my taco was completely saturated from the rain lol! I met some pretty good guys here and I've been back several times.”

“Heaven exists, and it can be found in a Lents front yard.
I never thought anyone could make veggie/vegan mexican food so creatively. I am always stuck with a bean and cheese, crossing my fingers that the beans are lard free.
Here though? A MASSIVE burrito stuffed with soyrizo, black beans, potatos, rice, many options. The chipotle aioli is da bomb. The fresh-squeezed OJ knocked my socks off. This is, hands down, the best veggie mexican I have had in Portland, and I have lived here over 30 years. They even have traditional meat offerings for the omnivores. If you haven't been here, run, don't walk. Tell your friends.”
“Fantastic vegetarian -- even vegan! -- options at a more-than-decent price. Family-run and you can hang out in the front yard :) One of my favorite things in Lents!”

“I've chalked a lot of stuff up to inflation. Remember when gas cost less than two dollars? And I used to get Otter Pops from the ice cream man for 10 cents a pop. Ten cents! That doesn't even get you a gumball anymore.
Anyway, I had bought into this whole -- "you can get a decent meal for less than $10" -- line. Even meals that came from windows of recreational vehicles. While $10 still doesn't seem particularly cheap, I'd accepted it.
So today, when we went down to one of the food cart centers and saw burritos on sale for $7, it seemed reasonable. But I didn't have seven dollars in my pocket. I had five.
On the way back to my house, I finally... FINALLY!... stopped at El Nutri Taco. I'd passed a million -- OK, well maybe 300 -- times, thinking how funny it was to see a taco cart and deck in someone's front yard, but I'd never actually stopped. Until today.
I got a huge basic burrito and a can of pop for $3.50. Three-fifty! One one side of the window, they have an entire color-coded vegan menu. Their food is fresh and filling. They even have a couple of covered tables in an area behind the cart, which kept us out of the rain.
And now I have the pleasure of saying, at El Nutri Taco, you can get a decent meal for less than five bucks. Five bucks, friends. Color me sold.”

“Portland is cart crazy. So fine. I'll join in on the mayhem and say that El Nutri is my numero uno food carto. Que fabuloso!
Having been a long time thug-lifer (meaning I live within a couple miles of 82nd ave), I can't count the number of times I was stopped at the intersection of 82nd and Woodstock. My eyes would focus on a waddling swaying drunken transient (somewhat in the crosswalk) and be drawn to the curious El Nutri sign. The words "vegan" and "taco" within a one mile radius of each other make my heart pound.
I don't know why it took me so long to finally 'andale' my gringa butt over to the cute little food cart. But finalmente, I made it. And gracias dio! Each time I've been since has been a gluttonous fiesta.
The menu is fairly evenly split amongst the carnivorous and the vegan/vegetarian varieties, which is a beautiful thing. Somehow, the family that runs the cart from their front yard have found this amazingly rare balance between authentic delicious meat products (so my compadres tell me) and sincere no-BS vegan accomodations. They don't just throw some plain beans into a flavorless tortilla. Oh no. They use spicy, vibrant soyrizo as their 'beef' base, and have many types of vegan condiments and authentic sauces to compliment their foods.
While waiting for my order (which has always been very speedy gonzalez), I feel at ease lounging on the bench that sits atop their new wood patio.
Super friendly service from competent, compassionate people. Vamanos!”
“I emailed El Nutri and inquired if they used any organic ingredients and got the following response:"Thank you for having the time to write to us. And yes we do use organic ingredients. We use the spicy chipotle soyrizo and the tofu. And very soon we will be using tempeh"It's great to see they are taking steps towards healthier, organic ingredients however I didn't know there was organic soyrizo out there unless they are making it themselves! Maybe if more people keep requesting organic ingredients... they will add more! Can't wait for the tempeh too! Yum!”
“This is a place where everyone can eat. They cater to vegans, vegetarians, omnivores, and those of us with both soy and wheat intolerances. Always friendly, lots and lots of options, and they let me get burrito filling with corn tortillas on the side! Love it!”
“This is definitely the best place to go for vegan mexican food. The burritos are huge and if I can manage to finish one I'm completely full for the rest of the day. My favorite item on menu is the chimichanga which you can get with soyrizo, tofu or potatoes. The tofu and potatoes are amazing! Now if only they would add a dessert chimichanga I would never eat anywhere else!”
